Senior Playwright Test Automation Engineer

Remote Senior Testing

About This Role

We seek a Senior Test Automation Engineer with strong, hands-on expertise in Playwright. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of daily Playwright experience, proven ability to build automation frameworks from scratch, and a solid background in test automation. This role is highly technical and focused on implementing reliable, scalable Playwright solutions.

Work in an environment where your test automation results are highly visible to product, design, and business stakeholders, helping shape product quality decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and implement robust test automation frameworks using Playwright.
  • Design and maintain scalable, reliable automated test suites
  • Implement advanced Playwright features like API testing, visual comparisons, and network interception
  • Set up and maintain test infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
  • Debug and resolve complex test automation challenges
  • Continuously improve test reliability, performance, and maintainability
  • Write clear bug reports and maintain comprehensive test cases.
  • Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing for compatibility.
  • Configure and maintain automated test reporting so non-technical stakeholders can easily access, understand, and track test results (HTML dashboards, hosted reports, CI/CD artifacts).

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software testing experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on test automation in production projects.
  • 2+ years of full-time, daily professional Playwright experience using either TypeScript or the Python async API (not occasional or experimental use).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable test automation frameworks using Playwright, from scratch.
  • Strong TypeScript or Python skills
  • Solid knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, DOM, and JavaScript for debugging).
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or similar)
  • Expert-level debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience setting up stakeholder-friendly test reports with clear pass/fail summaries, visual artifacts (screenshots, videos, traces), and historical tracking.

Technical Skills

Core Skills (Must-Have)

  • Playwright: professional experience with advanced features, including:
    • Cross-browser testing
    • Page Object Model (POM)
    • Network request handling and mocking
    • Test parallelization
    • API and UI testing (TypeScript or Python async API)
    • Authentication handling
    • Visual testing and mobile viewport testing
  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
  • Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills

Languages/Environment

  • TypeScript or Python (async API required if Python)
  • Node.js (for TypeScript/JS track)
  • HTML, CSS, DOM

Infrastructure

  • Git version control
  • CI/CD tools (GitLab CI or similar)
  • Test reporting and analytics
