How to verify SSM site with Google.

Verifying your SSM site with Google's webmaster tools give you information about your site and help you with your search engine optimization efforts. Site verification is a process that Google uses to ensure that only site owners can see information about your site.

To verify your site with Google:

  1. Sign into Google webmaster tools with your Google Account.
  2. Tell Google what sites you want to have controls over. Just enter the URL as prompted, and you’ll see that you need to verify it.
  3. Usually there are two methods to verify the site: with a Meta Tag or by uploading a special HTML file. You need to select the method with the file to verify SSM-based site.
  4. Select Upload an HTML file, and follow the steps on your screen.
  5. Google will provide you with the file that you need to put on your site. Download it to your local computer.
  6. Get to the admin areay of your site and upload the file into File Manager. Then add alias to this file. This is the key point of the process! Alias name should be exactly the same as was the name of the file when you downloaded it (for example, google11e5844324b7354e.html). Alias is case-sensitive and must have an ".html" part at the end. Select "/" as the page for this alias (that will make you file available in the root folder of your site as Google requires).
  7. Once you have uploaded the file and added the correct alias, click Verify button.

Google will verify that the file exists in the specified location. As soon as your web site is verified, you can access the web site’s profile.
