How to verify SSM site with Google.

Verifying your SSM site with Google's webmaster tools give you information about your site and help you with your search engine optimization efforts. Site verification is a process that Google uses to ensure that only site owners can see information about your site.

To verify your site with Google:

  1. Sign into Google webmaster tools with your Google Account.
  2. Tell Google what sites you want to have controls over. Just enter the URL as prompted, and you’ll see that you need to verify it.
  3. Choose the method you would like to use for verification. You can either choose to verify with a Meta Tag or by uploading an HTML file to your site. For SSM site only uploading an HTML file method can be used.
  4. Select Upload an HTML file, and follow the steps on your screen.
  5. Using any text editor, create the file. The file itself can be empty.
  6. Upload file to File Manager and add alias to this file. Alias name should be exact the same as Google asks for the file name (for example, google11e5844324b7354e.html). Alias name is case-sensitive and must have an ".html" extension. Select / for the page to make you file available in the root folder of your site as Google specified.
  7. Once you have uploaded the file and add the correct alias, click Verify button.

Google will verify that the file exists in the specified location. With your web site verified, you can now access a web site’s profile.
