HOW TO SET UP AN E-MAIL ACCOUNT IN MICROSOFT OUTLOOK

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > E-mail Accounts.

  2. On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select "Add a new e-mail account" and click Next.

  3. For your server type, select "POP3" and click Next.

  4. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window, enter your information as follows:

    1. Your Name: Enter your first and last name.
    2. E-mail Address: Enter your e-mail address.
    3. User Name: Enter your e-mail address, again.
    4. Password: Enter the password you set up for your e-mail account.
    5. Incoming mail server (POP3): The name of the incoming e-mail server: mail.yourdomain.com
    6. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): The name of the outgoing e-mail server: mail.yourdomain.com

      Please change "yourdomain" above to the name of your domain, without any spaces, so that it looks the same way as you type it in the browser when go to your WWW.

      E.g. if you type www.bitdesignstudio.com then the name of the domain is bitdesignstudio and the name of mail server is mail.bitdesignstudio.com

  5. Click "More Settings."

  6. On the Internet E-mail Settings window, select the "Outgoing Server" tab.

  7. Select "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication." and "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
  8. Click OK
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Finish.

HOW TO SET UP MICROSOFT OUTLOOK TO STORE MESSAGES ON SERVER

Storing messages on a server is useful if you need to read e-mail from more than one computer or if you need to manage a Spam Filter. When you log on to your account from a different computer, MS Outlook downloads messages according to the options you have set. You can store messages on a server.

To do that:

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > E-mail Accounts.

  2. On the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select "View or change existing e-mail accounts" and click Next.

  3. Double click the e-mail account in account list.

  4. Click "More settings..." in popped up window with account settings.

  5. Click the Advanced tab, and then select "Leave a copy of messages on server".

  6. Click OK.
